Spoil the Child

(As told by Sarah)

So we're in the car on the way to a birthday party. Simon is in the backseat reading me the Ten Commandments from his Sunday School art project. He gets to the one about not coveting your neighbor's house, or his wife.

Simon: What does that mean?
Me: It means we shouldn't be jealous of what other people have. Like, if we get to Natalie's house and she has a nice toy, you could say, oh, what a nice toy, but not be jealous that she has it.
Simon: I see. Like, when Ethan had a cool watch with hands, I didn't have to be jealous. I could just come home and say, "mommy, I want a cool watch with hands." and you got one for me.
